Race Report | RF Motorsports 2012 Supercross

The 2012 Supercross season is over and done I can't believe how the time went by so fast. Our season this year was a learning one and I feel we learned a lot right from the get go thats for sure. The biggest thing I learned was how ridiculously expensive this sport is to do on your own, way more then I anticipated and makes me even appreciate the dedication of most privateers even more that do it with little or no help. This season we had Mikey Horban on TV a few times so that was really cool he was so close so many times this season to making a main but was always just a bit short but he worked his butt off all season long so you have to give him huge props for that. Chris Howell got a couple of shots on TV as well and as the season got further along rode better and better each weekend and I know Chris is going to shine outdoors. Collin Jurin had a short season coming back from injury but had a great race in Salt Lake making his first main event in the Lites class and rode great in Seattle and got us our first team name mention on Live TV on the Speed Channel so that was super cool... all in all not to bad for a few local NW guys trying to make a name for ourselves. This Summer we will be racing a few AMA Outdoor Nationals and regional events. RF Motorsports USA will for sure be back next year bigger and better for the 2013 SX/MX season.
There is no way possible we could have done this without the help from these great people and companies that believed in us:  Ken Workman, Hi-Tech Electric, AR Racing, Gary/Diane Flagler, North Bend Automotive, Moto Star Global, Actionetix.com, MototheNW.com, Racer X, Devol, Fly Racing, Fusion Graphix, Mishimoto, Bridegstone, Sunstar, Pro Wheel, SS Shades Tate Matherly, Engine Ice, Motorex, UFO, EVO, Spider Energy Drink, Traction Designs, Galfer Brakes, Renegade Fuel, Bell Helmets, Torc1 Racing, DT1 Filters, All Balls Racing, CV4, Hinson, Adrenaline Designs, Robert Horban, Denny Dennis, Adam Frost, The Jurin Family, The Howell Family, University Auto and all the fans that purchased shirts to help support these guys.
Thanks again for all the support and be sure to check out our Facebook page: RF Motorsports USA and Twitter:@rfmotorsports
See ya at the races soon....

Race Report | RF Motorsports SLC

Well lets start off with congratulations to Collin Jurin for making his first Main event in the Lites class and also the first main event for the team. Collin rode great transferring out of his heat race with a 9th place from not a very good start so kudos to him working through the pack to get into the main.
The main event didn't go as good as he hoped making a few mistakes and having a few close calls he made the decision to pull off and stay safe finishing 20th. He learned a lot and now will start to focus on outdoors on the 450.
Chris Howell made his 3rd night show of the season. His heat race and lcq were a lot better then his qualifying times, Chris is for sure a better racer then a practice guy. Chris rode good and with Vegas being a little faster and slicker I think #222 will do really well this coming up weekend.
Mikey Horban qualified 21st in the 450 class that is good. Mike was right behind Kyle Chisholm in timed practice and ahead of guys like Chris Blose and Jason Thomas so he has the speed for sure the pieces just need to fall in place. Mike got 5th in the LCQ and being that Vegas is the last race I look for #143 to pull out all tricks in the book to get into the main event in Vegas.
Jon Seehorn will make his 2012 Endurocross debut in Vegas this weekend also on his new Webb Powersports/RF Motorsports USA backed Husqvarna txc 310. He has been training hard and has the bike set up well so we look forward to seeing him race on Friday night before SX at the Orleans Arena.
Thank you for all the continued support and Pick up one of our "I Support Privateers" T-shirts and help support these guys.

Xtreme Indoor Enduro | Race Report

Xtreme Indoor Enduro

March 10th Medford, OR

by Rory Sullivan photos Ben Baucum and Joe Stagg

This being the first time an event like this has been done in southern Oregon it was a great success. The event had a sold out crowd in the Jackson County Fairgrounds arena and had a great pro turnout, with riders from as far away as Central California and Canada. The amateur turn out was a little light but was to be expected as Endurocross can be very intimidating, that being said the course was well built and was friendly to first timers and challenging for the pro class, (a difficult thing to achieve).

The event's main sponsor, OMA KTM, did a raffle for a new KTM 450 ATV and other fundraising to raise a total of $9800 to benefit Matt Jensen, a rider with a rare form of tuberous sclerosis that caused a large facial angiofibroma to form. The money will go to help with the surgeries he needs. It is really cool that the racing community can come together to help one of are own in such fantastic way!

With such a solid pro class the racing was guaranteed to be great. Heat 1 started with Medford's own Kevin Rookstool on Geico /Motosports Hillsboro backed Honda taking the lead. (Rookstool quickly stretched his lead only...) It was not to be for Rookstool though as he built a good lead only to break off his chain guide and derail his chain with only a lap or so left. The lead was then handed over to Apex Motorsports rider Keith Sweeten. Sweeten would take the win, Rookstool went  onto the semi and won in convincing fashion. In Heat 2 Beta rider Cody Webb would take the lead and the win by a large gap over RPM KTM rider Travis Coy and Pro Caliber Kawasaki's Rory Sullivan.

The 11 rider main started with Cody Webb pulling the holeshot followed by Rookstool. Cody would fall half way through lap 1 handing the lead to Kevin, Cody stayed close and was trailed by Ryan Graffunder and Rory Sullivan. Heat 1 winner Keith Sweeten was buried in the pack and charging forward. On Lap 2 Sullivan moved into 3rd but was losing ground to the led duo. For the duration of the 10 lap final Rookstool and Webb stayed very close, Two corners from the finish Rookstool stalled his motor and lost the lead. Webb would take the win, Kevin refired to take a second. Keith Sweeten would charge all the way onto the podium in third place. Sullivan would finish in fourth with a broken radiator and rear brake pedal. Fifth place would go to RPM KTM's Travis Coy.

Pro Main Top Five
1.Cody Webb
2.Kevin Rookstool
3.Keith Sweeten
4.Rory Sullivan
5.Travis Coy
